Professional Challenge Presentation Reflection

  • Due Dec 10 at 11:59pm
  • Points 20
  • Questions 5
  • Time Limit None

Instructions

During your time with your small group, pose a professional challenge you have encountered during your practicum this semester.

This can be related to student learning, student behavior, student social/emotional well being, classroom instruction, classroom management, parent interactions, colleague interactions, administrative interactions, or any other situation that arises for you.

Please give us enough information about this situation and context to be able to provide useful feedback. If you have already attempted to address the situation, explain what you have tried and what outcomes resulted. If relevant and non-identifying, feel free to share items such as samples of student work or pictures of your classroom layout.

Be careful not to provide any information that would identify anyone involved in the situation, especially so with student information.

After describing your challenge, end with a question that will focus the class discussion towards your desired area.

For example, if I posed a situation about a colleague who was unwilling to modify exams for students with modified assessments in their IEPs, I could end with various questions that would frame the conversation. Think about how differently the conversation would go with these different question frames:

  • How do I collaborate with this colleague to maintain a good working relationship while also ensuring our students get the modifications that are required?
  • How do I design modified exams that will meet my colleague's desire to maintain rigor in the classroom?

Within the week after your problem has been discussed in class respond to the prompts in this quiz.

Because this is a graded survey, it will show as points instead of complete/incomplete. 20 is complete. 8 is incomplete.
