Registration for the summer component is through the School of Continuing and Professional Studies. Completion of the program leads to a BS in Biology with a concentration in nuclear medicine technology and prepares the student for examinations leading to national certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and/or the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB).

If students elect, whether voluntarily or involuntarily, to not complete the pathway in Nuclear Medicine Technology during their academic or clinical year, they will be able to successfully transfer to the Medical Technology concentration and graduate on time.

Students are strongly encouraged and advised to seek academic or clinical assistance with their professors, program director, clinical coordinator, or affiliate educational supervisors at any time during their journey at Salem State University. The NMT program takes pride in developing strong, independent students and turning them into successful technologists and healthcare professionals.

The Joint Review Committee on Educational Programs in Nuclear Medicine Technology (JRCNMT) and its collaborating organizations cooperate to establish, maintain and promote appropriate standards of quality for postsecondary educational programs in nuclear medicine technology to provide skilled, professional services to patients. Educational programs which meet or exceed these threshold standards are granted accreditation by the JRCNMT, providing public recognition of such achievement. The accreditation process provides documentation of periodic reviews to the institution's administration, public, student's parents, potential applicants, employers and applicable educational, regulatory and licensing bodies.
